BioBreakfast: Prevention and Treatment for Diseases that Travelers May Encounter

More than a hundred million international travelers visit tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world annually. These travelers are at increased risk of numerous tropical infectious diseases. Travel medicine emerged as a specialty in the 1980s in response to the challenges posed by geographic movement of people from the environments of the developed world to areas with developing economies and tropical environments.

Join us on February 17th, 2011 to learn more about the travel medicine vaccines, diagnostics, and drugs for Japanese Encephalitis, traveler’s diarrhea, tuberculosis, pandemic influenza, HIV and malaria marketed and under development by Maryland life science companies and for a discussion of the unmet medical needs in this important, expanding area of medicine. Speakers include:

  • Dr. Michael Sauri, Medical Director, Occupational Health Consultants
  • Dr. David Venables, COO and Site Director, Intercell USA
  • Dr. Carol Nacy, CEO, Sequella, Inc.
  • Dr. Greg Glenn, CSO, Novavax, Inc.
  • Dr. Stephen Hoffman, CEO, Sanaria, Inc.
