Tweet Questions to #Turkey911 for Expert Advice

Wegmans offers a turkey tip line via Twitter for customers to ask questions about preparing the Thanksgiving meal.

Not sure how long it's going to take for your turkey to thaw? Grab your smartphone and tweet at Wegmans Executive Chef Mark Makovec, who will be on call via Twitter to answer cooking-relating questions leading up to the big feast on Thanksgiving Day.

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday, Makovec will offer turkey tips in 140 characters or less. Questions may be submitted by tweeting to @Wegmans and using the hashtag: #turkey911.

“Many people may be cooking turkey for the first time and others cook it only once a year, so they may not remember what works best,” said Makovec.

On Monday morning, tweets indicated that some were still trying to decide what size bird to buy and others needed recipe for stuffing and brine.

One consumer asked if he'd had his frozen turkey defrosting for too long and it turned out that he has.

The advice from Makovec: "Thaw 24 hrs/5 lbs of turkey."

The Wegmans chef will only be tweeting through Wednesday so if you need help on Thanksgiving Day, click here for information about calling Butterball for advice.
