Montgomery County High School Sports tryouts began this Wednesday. Although the regulations made each school start the same day, the similarities seem to stop there.
Putting aside the debate of High School Soccer vs. Club Soccer, I wanted to at least provide a forum for those who's kids are going through the process. Just about every girl on my daughter's club team is trying out at one of a half dozen high schools around county as incoming freshman. The parents are trying to paraphrase the information pass along by the kids into some coherent information.
it seems that some coaches will have their teams picked by Saturday. Some will take a week. Some coaches "unofficially" had interested girls attend camps together over the summer and some coaches also coach a feeder middle school team so those teams will probably get picked sooner. Some parents seen to know exact number of openings for freshmen, some have no clue.
So, my daughter is trying out for soccer at Poolesville. It seems that 1) rosters will be final by next Thursday the latest but cuts will be rolling; 2) the teams have scrimmages against Clarskburg HS on Tuesday and Richard Montgomery on Wednesday. Concussion testing will be early next week if they didn't get it done already...
That's about all I got other than that the weather could not be more perfect for these kids!
Other news is that there is a lot of fitness but it's "not too bad" and that it seems to be pretty fun. Let's hope it stays that way.
If anyone else has some real information about soccer or other sports, feel free to share in the comments.
