UPDATED at 12:20 p.m.

A driver reportedly struck a woman and girl watching a soccer game at Eastern Middle School in Silver Spring, killing the 13-year-old girl.

The teenage victim was identified Wednesday as Deborah Roxana Reyes Casasola of the 900 block of Northampton Drive in Silver Spring.

Detectives say the fatal pedestrian collision occurred about 8:32 p.m. Tuesday near the parking lot of Eastern Middle School, 300 University Boulevard E. in Silver Spring. They need witnesses to tell police what they saw at the accident scene.

Montgomery County Police say the driver of a 2008 Ford Focus was driving in the rear parking lot of the school, when the car veered out of the parking lot. It struck a sign, a tree, and the unnamed woman and Casasola.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Casasola was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the car to leave the parking lot. Detectives believe three adults were in the suspect vehicle, a Ford Escape. At this time, the occupants of the vehicle are not telling investigators who was driving.

Some spectators at the game witnessed the collision, but left before police arrived at the scene.

Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the accident but who did not speak to investigators to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240.773.6620 or call the police non-emergency number at 301.279.8000. Language interpreters are available and callers may remain anonymous.

So awful! My prayers and sympathies go out to the family and friends of the young girl. I am absolutely appauled that no one in that car is sharing who was driving, charge them all at this point since they all are all saying they are all guilty by interferring with the investigation. Hopefully they were all tested for drugs and alcohol.

I agree, Noreen, why not treat it as if they were each driving. They should all be charged the same. I'm sure they'll start talking then. And if they come up with different stories, then don't drop the charges.

How sad! I'm so sorry for the victims and their families. I am confused about how many cars were involved. I assume just one but the article references both a Ford Focus and a Ford Escape.
