$500K Bail Remains for Germantown Man Charged with Punching Man to Death

A District Court judge made the order Tuesday, during a bond review hearing.

Bail will remain set at $500,000 for a Germantown man charged with punching an acquaintance to death during a barbecue over Fourth of July weekend.

District Court Judge William Graves Simmons made the order Tuesday during a bail review hearing for Brendon Lamont Dashiell Jr., 24, who was charged with second-degree murder.

On Saturday, July 2, police and emergency personnel found Justin Eugene Carter, 28, unresponsive and on the ground in front of his Gaithersburg home, in the 100 block of Steven Court, according to Montgomery County Police.

Police allege that Carter and Dashiell, who lives in the 19000 block of Red Robin Terrace, got into a fight during a barbecue at Carter's home. Dashiell allegedly punched Carter in the head until he collapsed, the court records state.

Police said Dashiell left the scene.

Carter was transported to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy Sunday determined Carter had died as a result of blunt force trauma to his head and that the manner of death was a homicide, the court records state.

 A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Friday, July 22, in Montgomery County District Court in Rockville.
