Arrests Made in Germantown Walmart Robbery

Former employee and a co-conspirator are charged with robbing the store in February.

Montgomery County Police’s investigation of led to the arrest of a former employee Tuesday.

Alonzo Dee McBryde, 32, of the 13100 block of Turkey Branch Parkway in Rockville, has been charged with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery, according to Montgomery County District Court records accessed online. 

Police allege that McBryde, who worked at the store, conspired with another man, DeJean Lamar Summerville, 30, of the 3900 block of Warner Avenue in Landover Hills, to rob the store on Feb. 11, 2011.

Montgomery County Police allege that McBryde was working at the store when a masked man — Summerville — entered the Walmart before opening hours and went to a store office where cash was kept.

In the office, a 35-year-old female employee was gathering money to place in the cash registers. Police allege that Summerville placed a handgun to the woman’s head and told her to get on the floor.

Summerville, police allege, placed money into a bag while telling the employee to stay down. He left store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said McBryde emerged as a suspect because it seemed as though the person or people responsible for the robbery had detailed knowledge of the store and the store’s procedures.

McBryde was held at Montgomery County Detention Center on $200,000 bond, police said.

Summerville has also been charged with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery and was in the custody of Prince George’s County, Md., police said.
