Investigators have not identified the body; cause of death under investigation

The body of an adult male was found in the Potomac River, near Edwards Ferry Road near Poolesville.

Investigators have not yet identified the body; medical examiners had not yet determined the cause of death, Montgomery County Police Cpt. Paul Starks told Patch on Saturday afternoon, hours after the body was recovered.

Starks said police would coordinate with law enforcement in Loudon and Prince William counties in Virginia, and Frederick County in Maryland to see whether there were reports of a person missing.
