A Gaithersburg man is in jail on charges that he paid an undercover Montgomery County Police officer to kill his ex-wife.
Detectives have arrested and charged Ndokey Peter Enow, 37, of Swan Stream Court in Gaithersburg, with solicitation to commit first-degree murder. The intended victim of the crime was Enow’s ex-wife.
Detectives were tipped on June 3 that Enow was trying to hire someone to kill his ex-wife. Authorities said Enow had offered a person $1,000 to kill his ex-wife and had provided photographs of the victim and the victim’s address to that person.
On June 6, an undercover Montgomery County Police officer, posing as a “hitman,” met with Enow in Silver Spring. Enow allegedly asked the undercover officer to kill Enow’s ex-wife and gave the officer partial payment for the act.
Police say Enow also showed the officer where his ex-wife lived and provided photos of the intended victim. After the meeting concluded, the suspect was arrested.
During police questioning, Enow reportedly confessed to the crime. He was charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. He is being held without bond.
Montgomery County Police detectives located Enow's former wife and confirmed that she is fine.
