CRIME REPORT | Police respond to shots fired in Germantown, man arrested

The following information is from incident summary reports provided by the Montgomery County Police Department.

Shots fired

A Germantown man has been arrested on charges of firing a gun in order to disperse a party at his home. 

At around 1 a.m. Sunday, May 8, Montgomery County Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 17800 block of Falconcrest Circle in Germantown, said 5th District Cmd. Luther Reynolds.

Reynolds said that a resident, Floyd Leo Costley Jr., 46, told police that he had fired the gun to break up a large party because it had gotten out of hand.

According to court documents, Costley has been charged with reckless endangerment, discharging a gun in an urban area, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.

Naked man arrested in a playground 

Police responded to complaints of a naked person walking around a playground in Germantown at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 7.

Reynolds said that when police arrived at the park, at Halethorpe Lane and Halethorpe Terrace, they encountered Gregory Ross Jr., 32, who was not wearing any clothes.

Ross was arrested on charges of indecent exposure, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to court records.

 

Teens arrested for stealing a vehicle

Two teenage girls and an 18-year-old male were arrested  on charges of stealing a vehicle in the 12500 block of Laurel Grove Place in Germantown. Police said the theft occurred overnight, between Monday, May 2, and Tuesday, May 3. 

Police, who wouldn't release the names of the teens, said the 16-year-old female was from Rockville, and the 17-year-old female was from Gaithersburg. The 18-year-old male, Ronald Gordon, whose address was unknown to police, received multiple theft charges and was also charged with providing a false statement, according to court records.

In other police news:

  • Police are looking for a male suspect involved in a strong-arm robbery on Monday, May 2. Police said the incident happened at around 6:45 p.m., in the 19900 block of Aircraft Drive in Germantown. The man assaulted the victim and took the person’s property.
  • An attempted residential burglary was reported in the 11400 block of Honey Bear Lane in Germantown on Monday, May 2, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
  • A residential burglary was reported in the 18900 block of Abbotsford Circle in Germantown on Monday, May 2.
  • A residential burglary was reported in the 13300 block of Dovedale Way in Germantown on Wednesday, May 4.  Police said nothing was taken.
  •  An aggravated assault was reported at an entrance of Seneca Creek State Park, at 16200 Darnestown Road in Boyds. Police said incident happened around 11:50 a.m. Thursday, May 5. The victim was assaulted by more than one person.
  • A residential burglary was reported in the 15200 block of Ganley Road in Germantown on Tuesday, May 10. Police said there were signs of forced entry, but nothing was taken.
  • An aggravated assault was reported near the intersection of Amber Ridge Circle and Shakespeare Drive in Germantown on Tuesday, May 10. A knife was used to assault the victim.
