Firefighters Dispatched to Gas Leak on Seneca Road

No homes evacuated; leak caused by underground propane tank.

Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service have responded to a gas leak in Darnestown.

No homes were evacuated, but as of 5 p.m., Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service was still on the scene, Asst. Chief Scott Graham said.

At around 4 p.m., Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a gas leak in the 14400 block of Seneca Road, Graham said.

The leak originated from an underground propane tank. Graham said it was unclear how long it would take to fix.

Graham was unable to give an assessment on whether the leak would affect traffic. Montgomery County Police officers were not dispatched to the scene, a police spokeswoman said.
