Gas Line Struck at Wegmans Site Wednesday

MCFRS: No injuries reported; no major evacuations.

A gas leak was reported at the Wegmans construction site Wednesday morning, affecting traffic near Germantown Road, Seneca Meadows Parkway and Father Hurley Boulevard.

There were no reports of injuries and only the work crews were evacuated from the scene, said Beth Anne Nesselt, a Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokeswoman.

Contractors struck a four-inch gas line at around 7:15 a.m. The leak was clamped by Washington Gas by about 8:40 a.m., Nesselt said.
