UPDATED: Hung Jury in Kidnapping, Attempted Murder Trial

UPDATED —  the jury considering charges against a man on trial for allegedly kidnapping, robbing and trying to kill a Germantown resident could not agree on a verdict on most of the charges.

Though Quinnton Brown, 25, of Columbia, MD, was found not guilty of the most serious charge, attempted first-degree murder, the jury was unable to reach a verdict on the charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, armed robbery, assault, kidnapping, weapons offenses and related conspiracy charges, Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office spokesman Seth Zucker told Patch.

A new trial date for those charges will be set during a hearing Aug. 13, Zucker said.

Brown was named as one of at least three men suspected in a Jan. 22 incident at a Germantown apartment complex. Police said the suspects approached a man in a parking lot at gunpoint, forced him to withdraw money from an ATM, then marched him into the woods and fired a shot toward him, according to court testimony.

The he evaded his captors by faking a gunshot wound to his leg.
