Updated: Suspect Charged in Gas Station Shooting in Germantown

Police said a fight at a gas station on Saturday escalated

(Updated 10:40 a.m.) Montgomery County Police detectives are investigating a shooting Saturday at gas station in Germantown.

Dmytro Solomatin, 26, of Reston, Va., is being held on $750,000 bond, police said in a press release Monday. 

Police allege that Solomatin fired a shot at a 38-year-old male after the two got into a physical fight at Freestate gas station, 20650 Frederick Rd.

Montgomery County Police were dispatched to the scene at at 5:53 p.m. 

Officer Janelle Smith said there were no injuries reported from the shooting, but a bullet did hit one of the tires on the 38-year-old man’s vehicle. The 38-year-old man's fiancee was also in the car, police said in a press release Monday.

Smith said that witnesses saw Solomatin leave the scene. He reportedly turned himself into police about an hour after the incident.

Solomatin has been charged with second degree attempted murder, first degree assault, and two charges of reckless endangerment, according to online court records.

A bond review hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Montgomery County District Court in Rockville.
