Man Charged With Burglarizing Upcounty Homes Due in Court

Andrew Tyler Olden was charged with eight counts of first-degree burglary.

A mechanic in Germantown has been charged with burglarizing several Montgomery County homes, reportedly netting more than $30,000 worth of loot in a month.

Andrew Tyler Olden was charged with stealing from eight residences in Boyds, Clarksburg and Damascus between April 20 and May 27, according to charging documents filed in Montgomery County District Court.

Olden, who is 24, allegedly told police that he committed the burglaries during his lunch breaks and on his way home from work, the court documents state.

Olden reportedly works as a mechanic for a car dealership in Germantown; court records list home addresses in Myersville, Md., which is part of Frederick County, and in Harpers Ferry, W.Va.

Olden has been charged with eight counts of first-degree burglary, seven counts of theft between $1,000 and $10,000, and one count of theft between $10,000 and $100,000, the charging documents state.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Friday, Aug. 19, in Montgomery County District Court in Rockville.

Investigators believe the burglaries may have been part of a broader scheme.

A court case is pending in Frederick County, where police allege that Olden had been involved with 11 burglaries, according to the Frederick County Bureau of Investigation.

There is also a case pending in Howard County, Md., where several burglary and theft charges had been flied against Olden, according to online court records.
