Man Gets 111 Year Sentence in Armed Robbery Spree in Germantown, Gaithersburg, Rockville

Police: Ramon Gunn, 27, robbed adult toy store, five other businesses in 2012

The man who pleaded guilty to robbing five businesses with a replica gun and an adult toy store in Rockville was sentenced Thursday to 111 years in prison.

Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Marielsa Bernard suspended all but 16 years of Ramon Gunn’s sentence, the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office announced Friday.

Gunn, 27, of Rockville, pleaded guilty to seven counts of armed robbery and one count of fourth-degree sex offense for a string of incidents that occurred in Germantown, Rockville and Gaithersburg between Jan. 11, 2012 and Feb. 18, 2012.

Court records offered the following descriptions of what happened:

  • Jan. 11, 2012—Subway, 12601 Wisteria Drive, Germantown. Gunn threatens a cashier with what appears to be a handgun and takes $800.
  • Jan. 12, 2012—Domino’s Pizza, 5268 Nicholson Lane, Rockville. Gunn threatens a cashier with what appears to be a handgun and takes $300.
  • Jan. 14, 2012—Subway, 5210 Nicholson Lane, Rockville. Gunn threatens a cashier with what appears to be a handgun and takes $400.
  • Jan. 18, 2012—O’Hair Salon and Spa, 424 Main Street, Gaithersburg. Gunn threatens a woman with what appears to be a black handgun and takes $600.
  • Jan. 30, 2012—Salon G, 316 Main Street, Gaithersburg. Gunn threatens a woman with what appears to be a black handgun, fondling the woman’s breasts before fleeing the salon with $140.
  • Jan. 31, 2012—Subway, 12601 Wisteria Drive, Germantown. Gunn threatens a cashier with what appears to be a handgun and takes $1,000.
  • Feb. 18, 2012—Night Dreams, 11550(F) Rockville Pike, Rockville. Police arrested Gunn after observing him robbing the adult toy store. He reportedly confessed to the other burglaries, according to court documents. It's unclear from court records whether Gunn had the replica gun during this robbery.

Gunn was also ordered to serve five years probation.

“The brazen nature of these crimes shows disrespect for society’s norms,” Ramon Korionoff, a spokesman for the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, said in a statement. “A series of armed robberies in such a short period of time caused fear in our community generally, especially among business owners and operators. And specifically those employees of the stores which [sic] were robbed were made fearful for their safety while working until this defendant was caught. Now Mr. Gunn is held responsible for his actions with this lengthy sentence.”
