Nearby: Police Identify Man Who Died Friday After Being Tasered in Gaithersburg

The 51-year-old allegedly jumped on cars, threw around large objects, and ignored police orders.

GAITHERSBURG—Montgomery County police identified 51-year-old Anthony Howard as the man who died after being tasered Friday evening by officers in Gaithersburg.

The incident happened at 8800 block of Cross Country Place in Gaithersburg, at around 6:15 p.m. 

A 911 caller reportedly told police that Howard, whose address was not known, was standing in a parked pickup truck "yelling profanities, striking the truck with rocks, and crawling on other vehicles."

Police said that after a series of incidents, Howard was tasered and put in handcuffs. Police noticed that Howard wasn't breathing after he was restrained, police said. 

Howard was later pronounced dead at Shady Grove Hospital.

Police are continuing to investigate Howard's death and ask that anyone who witnessed this event and has not spoken to police please call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
