Neelsville Teacher's Sex-Offense Charges Involve Student
Police: Cuyler Jay Cornell, a seventh grade teacher, was charged with two counts of committing a third-degree sex offense and one count of sexual abuse of a minor.
A Neelsville Middle School teacher was arrested Monday on sex offense charges involving a 14-year-old student, Montgomery County Police said.

Police believe the incidents occurred on two occasions during the summer of 2011; Patch was unable to obtain further details at the time this story published Monday evening.

The alleged victim was a student in Cornell’s classroom during the 2010-11 school year. Cornell teaches seventh grade English, according to the middle school’s website.
Police allege that he and the student continued to spend time together outside the classroom, even during the current school year. Witnesses notified police and school administrators in February after witnessing “inappropriate contact,” spurring the investigation.
