Kenneth Wayne Barney Jr. was charged with discharging a firearm in an urban area and reckless endangerment, police said.
A 38-year-old man is facing gun and reckless endangerment charges for firing an AK-47 in a Gaitheresburg yard, Gaithersburg Patch reported Monday.
At the time this story published, Kenneth Wayne Barney Jr. was being held on $20,000 bail pending a bond review hearing in Rockville Monday afternoon, Montgomery County police said.
Police responded to a complaint of shots fired on Washington Grove Lane at around 11:45 a.m. Sunday.

When police arrived, Barney reportedly told them that he had fired an AK-47. In addition to the AK-47, police recovered two handguns and a .12 gauge shot gun from the home.
Montgomery County police spokesman Capt. Paul Starks told The Gazette that there was "no information at this time to indicate that he has possession of [the firearms] illegally."
