Police: Boyds Man Charged With Sodomy, Sexual Abuse of a Minor

Teen boy alleges he was sexually assaulted at an Ellicott City salon.

A 54-year-old barber from Boyds was charged with sexual abuse and sodomy after a 13-year-old boy alleged he was sexually assaulted at his Ellicott City, Md., salon. 

Jung Gon Kim, a barber at Scissors Sound Hair Salon, 3419 Plum Tree Drive, in Ellicott City, was charged with sexual abuse of a minor, second-degree sexual offense, sodomy, second-degree assault and two counts of third-degree sexual offense, according to Howard County District Court records accessed online.

The boy reportedly told police that Kim made inappropriate and sexual comments and that the incidents escalated to sexual abuse in September, according to Howard County Police.

State tax records accessed online list Kim as the salon’s owner.

Police said Kim was arrested Oct. 30 and is being held in Maryland Criminal Detention Center on $500,000 bond.

Howard County Police are encouraging parents of children who visited the salon to talk with their kids and to report possible incidents to police, at 410-313-2200.
