Police: Damascus Theft Spree Suspects Still At Large

Police identify one suspect but are still looking for two others captured on video

While Montgomery County Police say they’ve identified one suspect in a string of car-related thefts in Damascus, detectives are still asking for the public’s help identifying the two others from a surveillance video shot during series of incidents in the Plantations II neighborhood on the nights of Sept. 1 and Sept. 2.

Two people are shown at the start of the 19-second clip police released on Sept. 5, though the focus mostly stayed on a single person with a backpack who briefly appears to approach a vehicle. Police said there was a third person out of the frame for most of the video.

Police said that an officer identified one of the men from the video, which led to the arrest of Rodney Sylvester Hall, 18, of Germantown. Hall is charged with theft, conspiracy to commit theft and being a rogue. A court date was set for Nov. 8.
