Montgomery County police are investigating two shootings that occurred Sunday night in a Gaithersburg parking garage are being investigated as a murder suicide between an estranged married couple, reports
According to Montgomery County Police, officers working in the area of Girard Street and Allied Place heard gunshots about 11:20 p.m. on June 15. Officers entered the parking garage in the 500 block of Raven Avenue and found a 38-year-old Gaithersburg man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Fire/Rescue personnel took the man to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.
While officers and Fire/Rescue units helped the man in the parking garage, other officers came upon a 39-year-old Gaithersburg woman who appeared to be hiding between parked cars in the same parking garage. Police said the woman, who was armed with a handgun, shot herself. She was also taken by Fire/Rescue to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The man killed was David Reid, a 38-year-old software engineer, reports WJLA TV. Reid was reportedly gunned down by his estranged wife Michelle – an attorney at Johns Hopkins University.
Police say Michelle Reid had recently left her husband, moving into an apartment on Frederick Road.
