Police Link Car to Stun Gun Robberies

Masked stun gun robber still at large.

Montgomery County Police are looking for a blue Nissan Maxima possibly linked to at least two reported stun gun robberies at a Germantown ATM.

A masked man with a stun gun has been robbing late-night ATM users at the drive-through Bank of America ATM, at 19707 Germantown Road, with the most recent robbery reported 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, July 19.

Police said an ATM user was trying to make a deposit when a masked man approached from behind and said, “freeze.” The driver reported seeing and hearing a Taser, said Montgomery County Police 5th District Cmd. Luther Reynolds.

The masked man reportedly got away with $24 before the ATM user could drive away, Reynolds said. The ATM user reportedly saw the suspect run up a hill toward Royal Bakery and then saw a blue Nissan Maxima leaving the area, Reynolds said.

As reported to police, the stun gun robbery seems to match at least one prior robbery at the same ATM on June 27.

In video footage released by police, a masked person apparently approaches an ATM user’s vehicle and points something at the driver, Patch in June. The masked person is then seen with a card in hand.

According to police, the suspect walked up to the ATM user’s vehicle and threatened him with a stun gun. The ATM user drove away and the suspect used the ATM card to withdraw cash, Patch reported.

Reynolds said police are looking for a white male, weighing 170 pounds at about 5’10” tall, with a black ski mask, striped jump suit and a Taser.
