Police Search for Suspects in Germantown Bicycle Thefts

(Updated 5:28 p.m.) Montgomery County Police are looking for two males suspected of stealing bicycles off a parked vehicle in a Germantown shopping center.

On Wednesday, police released photos extracted from video surveillance of the suspects, with hopes it would lead to an arrest.

Police from Germantown's 5th District were dispatched to Germantown Commons Shopping Center, 13060 Middlebrook Road, for the report of a theft July 16, at around 3:45 p.m. The owners of the bikes told police that they had returned to their vehicle and discovered that their bicycles were gone.

A witness reportedly saw a male riding one of the stolen bicycles through the shopping center. Another suspect was seen accompanying him in the shopping center, police said.

The bikes are worth $7,000 and $1,000, police said.

Cmd. Luther Reynolds said it was probably an opportunistic crime.
