Police Want to Question Sex Offender in 1975 Disappearance of Sisters

Police have a person of interest in the disappearance of two girls nearly 40 years ago after they walked to Westfield Wheaton Mall.

Montgomery County Police want to question a man who has been identified in the 1975 disappearance of two sisters, ages 10 and 12, from Westfield Wheaton Mall, reports WJZ TV.

County police told WJZ Monday the man they want to question is a convicted child sex offender who is incarcerated in another state. Police say the man had traveled extensively around the country.

Authorities expect to release more information at a news conference Tuesday, including details about why the man is considered a person of interest in the disappearance of 12-year-old Sheila Lyon and her 10-year-old sister, Katherine. The girls went missing after walking to the mall.
