Report: Man Charged In Alleged Slip-And-Fall Scam Involving Banana Peel

Transit police say evidence refutes claims of man seeking $15,000 for slipping and falling on banana at a DC Metro station, WJLA reports.

You could say this Metro rider got caught slipping.

Transit police have charged Maurice Owens with fraud and allege that he faked a slip and fall on a banana peel in an attempt to bilk $15,000 from WMATA, WJLA reports.

Owens claimed he slipped on a banana left in an elevator by a janitor at the Potomac Avenue Metro station, WJLA reports

But security footage from the elevator obtained by the TV station appears to show Owens dropping an object on the floor and then slipping and falling on it when the elevator doors opened.
