SunTrust Bank Robbed in Damascus

Police are offering a cash reward for tips that lead to an arrest or indictment

The Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Robbery Section and the FBI are investigating a bank robbery that occurred in Damascus on Thursday.

According to a press release sent today by the Montgomery County Police Department, officers from the 5th District and Maryland National Capital Park Police responded to the report of a bank robbery at SunTrust Bank, 9916 Main St., at around 4 p.m.

According to police, the suspect entered the bank through the rear door, approached the teller, displayed a handgun and demanded cash.  After the suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash, he ran out the front door. No one was injured during this incident.

 The suspect is described as a white male, 40 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds. He was dressed in a gray hooded sweatshirt, black shorts, black socks and wore a black baseball hat with an orange Texas Longhorn logo during the robbery. 

Anyone who has information about this bank robbery or the suspect is asked to call the Major Crimes Division -- Robbery Section at 240-773-5100.

Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime.  Anonymous tips can also be provided by typing “MCPD” plus the tip on a cell phone or PDA and texting it to 274637 (CRIMES).
