School Officials Confirm Man Charged With Sex Offenses Worked for District

Michel Rosenzweig's employment at three Montgomery County public schools between 1999 and 2007 are not connected with charges.

A Germantown man who allegedly assaulted a minor was once a security assistant at Neelsville Middle School.

Michel Rosenzweig, 52, of the 12800 block of Sage Terrace, was charged with five counts of third-degree sexual offense for assaults that took place in 2003. after posting a $30,000 bond.

“We’re giving parents the facts as we know them from the police,” said Montgomery County Public Schools spokeswoman Lesli A. Maxwell.

School administrators today and staff of Rosenzweig’s arrest, though Maxwell said his employment at three Montgomery County public schools between 1999 and 2007 were not connected with alleged incidents that led to the charges.

Rosenzweig was employed as a para-educator for special-needs children at Stedwick Elementary School in Gaithersburg from 1999 to August 2002, and held security assistant jobs at from August 2002 to August 2006 and at Lakelands Park Middle School in Gaithersburg from August 2006 to February 2007, Maxwell said.

Parents and staff at Quince Orchard and Northwest high schools were also notified about the arrest, though Rosenzweig had never worked at the high schools, Maxwell said.

The alleged victim, now 18, came to police March 11 to report the abuse, which occurred when he was 10 years old, according to a press release from .

In June and July of 2003, the boy regularly swam at the community pool at 11521 Doxdam Terrace in Germantown. Police said Rosenzweig touched the victim inappropriately in the shower five times.

In February, the victim saw Rosenzweig and obtained the license number of the car he was driving.

As part of their investigation, police are looking for other possible victims. Rosenzweig's work history includes teaching jobs and helping special needs children, police said.

Most recently, Rosenzweig was employed as a behavioral aide with Maxim Healthcare in Towson, Md., where he had worked since November 2010, according to an emailed statement from Maxim.

Chieko Noguchi, spokeswoman for the Archdiocese of Washington, said a letter would be sent to the pastor and the principal of St. John the Evangelist School in Silver Spring, where Rosenzweig was worked as a physical education teacher from fall 1989 to June 1992.

Noguchi said the current arrest was not connected to Rosenzweig's prior employment with the school.
