Update: Germantown Shooting

No charges have been filed, but police are still investigating the circumstances that left one man shot but not seriously injured Wednesday night at Brandermill Drive and Drumcastle Terrace.

Montgomery County Police could be close to identifying suspects involved in the shooting of a 20-year-old man in Germantown on Wednesday night, police spokesman Cpt. Paul Starks said.

"This was not a random act," Starks told Patch.

Police responded to Brandermill Drive and Drumcastle Terrace at around 8 p.m., where they found the shooting victim — who was treated for non-life threatening injuries — and another teenage male who had apparently been assaulted.

Initially, police said the incident could have stemmed from a fight at a basketball court near the east Germantown townhouse development, but Starks said police think there may have been another conflict before that.

Further details were unavailable.
