UPDATED: Curtis Lopez Transported to Montgomery County

Lopez has been charged with killing his estranged wife, Jane McQuain, 51, of Germantown, and is suspected of killing her son, William McQuain 11, police said.

The man accused of killing his estranged wife in Germantown has been brought to Maryland to face the charges, Montgomery County Police confirmed Wednesday.

Curtis Maurice Lopez, 45, arrived at Montgomery County Police Headquarters at around 2 p.m. Wednesday, after being transported from Charlotte, N.C., Montgomery County Police said in an emailed release.

Police posted video of the transfer on its Facebook page.

Lopez, 45 was taken into custody in Charlotte on Oct, 13, on the strength of a Maryland arrest warrant related to the death of Jane McQuain, his estranged wife, who was found beaten and stabbed to death in the bedroom of her Germantown apartment on Oct. 12.

Police said charges related to the homicide of Lopez’s stepson, William McQuain were forthcoming. Police found the 11-year-old’s body Oct. 18 in a wooded area off Clarksburg road, about a quarter mile west of Frederick Road in Clarksburg.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled that the boy was the victim of homicide and that the manner of his death was blunt force trauma to the head.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Homicide/Sex Section continue to investigate the homicides of Jane and William McQuain.
