Commuters: Bye-Bye Federal Commuter Tax Credit?

Thousands of Maryland commuters could wind up paying more because a federal tax credit wasn't renewed, The Baltimore Sun reports.

Commuters who rely on Maryland buses and the MARC train could pay more to get to and from work because the budget Congress agreed on doesn’t address a tax credit that rewards mass transit use,  The Baltimore Sun.

The credit will go from $230 to $145, and even if Congress takes up the topic when it gets back from break, nothing could happen before the higher tax cap expires on Jan. 1, The Sun reports.

A state transit spokesperson told the newspaper that 6,000 MARC riders and 3,000 bus riders take part in the program.
