Bioscience Education Center in Germantown is part of Science and Technology Park.

(Updated June 28) Montgomery College Board of Trustees awarded nearly $60 million in contracts for work on its Bioscience Education Center, part of the Germantown campus’s work-in-progress technology hub.

Bethesda-based Clark Construction Group won a $58.8 million bid for roadwork on Observation Drive; Lukmire Partnership in Alexandria, Va., was awarded a $1.2 million contract for construction administration for Bioscience Education Center work.

The $88 million is part of the Germantown campus’s Science and Technology Park, which will also house Holy Cross Hospital.

The bids were approved during the board’s regular meeting on June 11. The bids are pending approval from Maryland General Services, a college spokeswoman told Patch.

The center was projected to open in 2014, Montgomery College officials said.

This story was updated from a prior version to correct the date in which Bioscience Education Center is expected to open, 2014. Patch regrets the error.
