New appointees named for Upcounty Citizens Advisory Board

The board welcomes new appointees from different areas in the region.

County Executive Isiah Leggett has named seven new appointees to the Upcounty Citizens Advisory Board.

They are: Juan Cardenas (Gaithersburg), Cherian Eapen (Clarksburg), B. Scott Graham, Matthew Leakan (Germantown), Robert Nelson (Gaithersburg), Oneil Ormsby (Montgomery Village) and Gail Robinson (Germantown).

Five incumbents of the 20-member board were eligible for reappointment. Only one appointee — Oneil Ormsby — replaces a member who resigned from the board, Sean Augerson.

The board's new officers are Cardenas (chairman), Leakan (first vice-chair) and Eapen (second vice-chair).

The board represents 30,000 residents in the area north of Shady Grove Road, advises the director of the Upcounty Regional Services Center, the County Executive and County Council on various issues.

The board meets at 7 p.m. the third Monday of each month at the Upcounty Regional Services Center in Germantown.
