Today's Board Vote has Implications for Germantown Parks

Montgomery County Planning Board Expected to Vote on its Capital Improvements Program Today.

The long-awaited Germantown Town Center Urban Park is part of the Capitol Improvements Program package on its way to the Montgomery County Planning Board for a vote today.

At a cost of roughly $7.2 million, the proposed park would occupy the 8.8-acres of land behind Germantown Library — the slopping, patch enveloped by the library’s parking lot, and Pinnacle and Locbury drives.  Park features would include interpretive trails, boardwalks and overlook terraces.

The planning board approved the park’s facility plan in 2005. The Maryland-National Capitol Park and Planning Commission began accepting bids for the parks construction Aug. 29.
