Will B-R-T Spell Relief for Upcounty Commuters?

Bus rapid transit system open house is 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Upcounty Regional Services Center. The public is invited to see where service is proposed, offer input.

Montgomery County Planning Department is expected to give an update on plans for a bus rapid transit system Tuesday in Germantown.

An open house is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Upcounty Regional Services Center, Director Catherine Matthews said.

Bus rapid transit is similar to light rail, except it is operated on roadways. County planners are examining 16 corridors — including MD 355/Rockville Pike, US 29/Columbia Pike and MD 97/Georgia Avenue — and will analyze ridership potential and identify where dedicated lanes may be needed.
