Germantown Student Inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi
Baton Rouge, LA — Steven Rapp, of Germantown recently was initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, a collegiate honor society. Rapp is pursuing a degree in Biology at Virginia Tech.
Rapp is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Germantown Student Makes Dean's List at University of New Haven
West Haven, CT — Audrey Cunningham, of Germantown, was named to the Dean's List at the University of New Haven for the fall 2012 semester, the university announced. Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible for the Dean's List.

Board of Education Seeks Nominees for Distinguished Service Awards
The Montgomery County Board of Education is seeking nominations from the public for its 16th Annual Awards for Distinguished Service to Public Education. The awards are sponsored by the BOE to recognize and show appreciation to individuals (including students), groups and organizations that have made exemplary contributions to public education in Montgomery County.
Nominations will be accepted in the following categories:
- Community individual
- Community group
- Business
- Montgomery County Public Schools staff
- School service volunteer
- Individual pioneer
Nomination forms are available in six languages on the Board of Education website or may be obtained from the Board office at the address below. To receive a nomination form by mail, call 301-279-3617. Completed nomination forms must be received in the Board of Education office by 5 p.m. on February 1, 2013.
