Harford Schools Administrator Retiring To Continue Golf Career

Associate Superintendent Bill Lawrence's colorful retirement letter to fellow administrators also outlined his appreciation for Harford County Public Schools.

Just days after the head of Harford County Public Schools announced he is leaving, another administrator is retiring—this time to work on his golf game.

Bill Lawrence, Harford County's Associate Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, sent a colorful email to fellow administrators this week, announcing that he, too, would be leaving his post on June 30.

The email, obtained by Patch from an administrator in the school system Thursday afternoon, read:

As HCPS enters a phase of transition I am taking this opportunity to move into another round of my golf career.

As of June 30, 2013, I am resigning my position as Associate Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment.  I have enjoyed my work with the HCPS community tremendously and am most impressed that most of you either send, have sent or will send your children to our schools.  There is no higher compliment to an organization.  HCPS is a good school system striving to be great and to provide the BEST for ALL of its students.  It has been an honor and a privilege to work with you.

"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense." Emerson, Ralph Waldo

On Monday, HCPS Superintendent Dr. Robert Tomback announced he would be leaving his position at the end of his contract on June 30.

No word on whether or not Tomback and Lawrence have a tee time scheduled for July 1.

Thank god another unwanted administrator is leaving. It seems he's more concered about his golf game instead of making harford county schools a great school system. It was a great school system when Dr. Haas was around.
