Montgomery College Crunch Time

Deadlines and an open house at MC Rockville's observatory keep academics on student's minds over the summer. An open house at The Universities at Shady Grove offers information on furthering your education.

It’s a midsummer day’s Crunch Time! Montgomery College is well into the Summer 1 session and Summer 2 classes have already begun — summer classes end Aug. 19.  Here are a few deadlines and upcoming events students should consider:

  • Priority advising for new students continues through Monday, Aug. 1. New students can meet with an advisor to discuss their academic goals and major, and plot out the best course of action for the desired degree.
  • Disability support services requests for Fall 2011 are due Monday, July 18.  More information is available here.
  • Applying to Montgomery College as a new student for Fall semester?  Monday, Aug. 1 is the admissions application deadline for Fall 2011 semester.  Be sure to get your paperwork in on time to ensure your enrollment at Montgomery College.
  • Fall 2011 session classes will be dropped for non-payment at 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11.  Don’t lose the spot you’ve registered for!

Other events:

  • Are you looking to further your education after earning your degree at Montgomery College? The Universities at Shady Grove is hosting an open house on their campus from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 16.  Learn about the campus’s 70 degree and certificate programs, check out some informational workshops and talk with an advisor about your track to a bachelor’s degree and beyond.  The open house is free, though registration is encouraged.  More information is available here.
  • Interested in the moon, Saturn and/or space? Montgomery College Rockville is hosting an observatory open house today, Friday, July 15, from 9 to 11 p.m., weather permitting. There is supposed to be a full moon, a chance to see Earth’s orbiting neighbo and Saturn through Montgomery College’s powerful telescopes.
