Superintendent Search Begins

The Board of Education authorized to hire a search firm to help in the selection of a new superintendent.

The Montgomery County Board of Education took the first step in the search of  a new superintendent to replace retiring superintendent Jerry D. Weast. The board met Thursday and authorized the hire of a search firm to assist in the selection of a new superintendent.

"I think part of the process of getting the best superintendent if getting the best search firm," said board member Phil Kauffman.

Once a search firm is selected, they will have a six-month period to select a new superintendent. The board emphasized the importance of community engagement in the search process. MCPS will post updates on the progress of the search on their website
