D.C. United Women defender Rebecca “Becky” Sauerbrunn has made the U.S. Olympic soccer team, the local team’s spokesman announced.
U.S. Soccer unveiled its women's Olylmpic Team roster Sunday.
Sauerbrunn, 26, will join a veteran cast of players — 11 are returning from the 2008 Bejing Olympics — as the team seeks its third consecutive gold medal.
A D.C. United Women spokesman said Sauerbrunn could play 30-minute stretches and would follow Rachel Buehler and Christie Rampone on the depth chart.
Part of the W-League, D.C. United Women plays its home games at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds.
Sauerbrunn's home-field debut with D.C. United is expected June 20 against Fredericksburg.
