Chinese Gourd Art-The Beauty and Story of Chinese Characters

Gaithersburg ChineseSchool (GCS) is hosting "The first Chinese Gourd Art Contest-The Beauty and Story of Chinese Characters". GCS invites students in Chinese Schools, general public, private schools, kids and adults who areinterested in learning Chinese language and culture to participate in this event. The event is designed to provide an understanding of the beauty and meaning of traditional Chinese Characters, and the art of the painted Chinese gourd. The participants will be guided to design and paint a Chinese gourd and also paint traditional Chinese characters/words on the painted gourd. In addition, the participants will be guided to write a story or commentary on the traditional Chinese characters or words written on the gourd in English or Chinese to participate an online contest.
