Germantown Golfers Will Compete in National PGA Junior Championship Qualifier

Brett Babb, Mikey Barillo, Mikey Norwitz will join the field of more than 75 at Montgomery Country Club Thursday and Friday.

More than 75 of the mid-Atlantic region's top junior golfers converge on Montgomery Country Club in Laytonsville Thursday and Friday to compete for the Middle Atlantic PGA (MAPGA) Junior Championship and attempt to qualify for the National PGA Junior Championship later this summer.

“This is one of the strongest fields we have seen in recent history,” MAPGA Junior Golf Director Bob Heintz said in a press release.

The boys' and girls' champions automatically qualify for the 37th PGA Junior Championship at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Ind. from July 31 to Aug. 3.

According to a press release, top players in the following age divisions will also receive awards – boys and girls 16-18; boys and girls 13-15; Boys 12 and younger.

Nearly 20 golfers from Montgomery County are participating.
