Seneca Valley Boys Bounce Back with Road Win; Girls Team Drops Second Straight

Screamin' Eagles Boys and Girls Basketball split double-header at Damascus.

Seneca Valley Boys Recap

After a tough loss in its last game, Seneca Valley boys basketball bounced back with a 52-49 win over the host Damascus Hornets on Monday night.

Seneca Valley led 25-22 at the half and unlike it had done in its previous game, kept pace in the second half and held on to the three-point lead it had built early on to improve to 8-9 on the season.

Daquan Sampson led the Screamin' Eagles with 12 points while Chad Smith, Andrew Hampton, and Robb Lim each scored nine.

Damascus's Zachary Bradshaw led all scorers with 19 points and Connor Frazier, also a top player on Damascus's football team, scored 11 for the 4-14 Hornets.

Seneca returns to action tonight to take on Kennedy on the road. The Cavaliers, who have won four out of their last five games including a 67-61 win last night over Einstein, are 12-6 on the season and will prove to be another tough test for Tom Sheahin's Screamin' Eagles.

Seneca Valley Girls Recap

On the girls' side of the court, the offensive woes continued for the Screamin' Eagles, who scored just six points in the opening half before falling to Damascus, 64-17. 

They trailed at the break, 37-6.

The 17 points are the lowest scored by the team all season. Meanwhile, three Hornets scored in double-digits, including Sam Day (17), Kelli Prange (13), and Lauren Greene (11).

With the loss, Seneca falls to 9-9 on the season and will face Kennedy on the road tonight.  The Cavaliers beat Einstein last night, 55-25.
