Washington Spirit Unveils Schedule

The Germantown-based professional women's soccer team’s first home game is April 20.

Washington Spirit announced the schedule for its inaugural season on Tuesday.

The Germantown-based professional women’s soccer team’s first game is on the road, against the Boston Breakers on April 14.

The Spirit's home opener at the Maryland SoccerPlex is April 20, when they’ll face the Western New York Flash.

If the team plays in Germantown, it should call itself the GERMANTOWN Spirit. In like manner, the local fumbleball team should be called the MARYLAND Redskins. Oh, that's right; the Soccerplex is really in the Boyds MD postal delivery area. Well then, the BOYDS Spirit. Says this guy who's lived in Boyds since 1970.

The Germantown Heat will be conducting basketball tryouts for 7th and 8th grade boys interested in AAU basketball. Tryouts will be Tuesday February 19th at 7:30 pm a $5 gym fee is required for each participant. Visit our website at www.leaguelineup.com/germantownheat
