Pet of the Week: Payton

Featured animals are examples of the variety available at the Montgomery County Humane Society shelter and may not be available as of publication date.

Name: Payton
An 11-month-old female pit bull-type/Labrador retriever mix, black with white bib
ID: A323061

Woof-woof-and-a-woof!  The girl who found me in West Virginia and brought me to the shelter says I’m housetrained, smart and curious.  I’m energetic and still pull on my leash but will do a lot better with plenty of exercise.  I’m good with other dogs though I can get pretty excited!  Indoors, I’m well-behaved and don’t jump on people; on the drive to the shelter I slept all the way!

According to our staff trainer, I’m a lovable, friendly girl, super-fun.  Use positive reinforcement training with me (obedience training mandatory) and I learn really quickly.  Want to help me get a handle on loose leash walking?  A body harness will help a lot.  I enjoy belly rubs and playing with toys and retrieving them too.  Take me on walks or jogs with you, or try me out on agility.
