Tiger Woods, AT&T National Drive Business To Montgomery County

Hotels, restaurants preparing to cater to tournament-goers this week.

It may not be as large of an event as last year’s U.S. Open, but Montgomery County businesses are preparing for an economic boost from this week’s AT&T National Golf Tournament. The tournament will bring 120 of the top PGA Tour professionals—including Tiger Woods—to compete at Congressional Country Club. Woods, who founded the AT&T National Golf Tournament, was the winner in 2009—the last year it was played at Congressional. The tournament returns after Congressional played host to last year’s U.S. Open, which drew nearly 230,000 attendees and had an estimated economic impact of between $130 and $150 million in the county.   While it’s too soon to tell how many will attend the AT&T National this week and how much spectators will spend, “if…

The AT&T National Golf Tournament: Getting There

Tiger Woods' golf tournament returns to Congressional this week.

The AT&T National Golf Tournament is returning to Bethesda this week, bringing 120 of the top PGA Tour professionals – including Tiger Woods – to compete at Congressional Country Club. Woods, who founded the tournament, was the winner in 2009 -- the last year it was played at Congressional. The tournament returns after Congressional played host to last year’s U.S. Open. In 2009, the AT&T National drew nearly 200,000 spectators, according to the Tiger Woods Foundation. It's ongoing this week through July 1. Rich residences GOUGING -- is so true!! Don't do what we did! Please please study the AT&t map online. There is only one main entrance (17th hole) and that is not where the club house is. Walking through other ways are NOT ALLOWED! If you think you're lucky get parking at the RICH people's lawns ($20+) around Congressional, be ready to walk for miles (yes! up to 2 miles) to the main entrance. So…   more ›
