Delaney Campaign Barbecues at Bohrer Park

6th District Congressional candidate John Delaney visited Gaithersburg's Bohrer Park for a cookout.

A strong storm wasn't enough to dampen the mood at Gaithersburg's Bohrer Park as supporters of John Delaney, the Democratic nominee for Maryland's 6th Congressional District, joined the Potomac native for a good old fashioned Sunday afternoon barbecue. His fourth such event in the district, Delaney said the grassroots campaigning is giving him the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the people he hopes to represent and allows them to get a better perspective of his principles. Bartlett, Delaney Take 6th Congressional District Primary

Republican Roscoe Bartlett seeks an 11th term in the 6th Congressional District, while Democrat John Delaney hopes to knock off the incumbent in his first political campaign.

U.S. Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, a 20-year veteran of the 6th Congressional District, will return to November’s general election ballot seeking an 11th term. The 6th District's Democratic nominee won 54.3 percent of the vote after a contentious campaign against State Sen. Rob Garagiola of Germantown. “We are extremely excited by tonight’s results but we’re going…

At the rate they (robocalls) were coming, I thought I should be 'going steady' or be engaged to Delaney or at least someone on his staff! Tell him I would like a very large emerald engagement ring. Updated, 11:30 a.m.: Spring break may be partially to blame for low voter turnout throughout Montgomery County during Tuesday’s primary elections. While Montgomery County traditionally sees turnout around 20 percent during primary elections, according to Board of Elections member Nahid Khozeimeh, Tuesday's voter turnout totaled much lower at 14.79 percent. Many polling officials and campaign representatives worried that spring break played a large part in the low turnout, with longtime election judges, campaigners and voters spending the week before Easter and Passover on vacation with families. “We’re probably looking at single digit returns,” Majorie Roher, public information officer for the county's Board of Elections, guessed on …
