Teen Charged in Nonfatal Shooting

The 16-year-old is charged with first-degree assault.

A teenager has been charged in the nonfatal, April shooting of a 20-year-old man in Germantown. A 16-year-old male, of the 20000 block of Frederick Road, was charged with first-degree assault, Montgomery County Police spokeswoman Janelle Smith said Monday. On the evening of April 11, police responded to reports of a shooting at Brandermill Drive and Drumcastle Terrace. A man was shot in the leg after a fight at a basketball court nearby, police told Patch. After the shooting, the wounded 20-year-old allegedly beat up the suspected shooter. The shooting may have stemmed from a fight over a female, Patch has reported.

Police: Charges Pending Against Teen in Germantown Shooting

A fight over a female may have sparked the initial conflict.

(Updated 11:30 a.m.) Charges were pending against a teenage male for the nonfatal shooting of a 20-year-old man in Germantown, Montgomery County Police Cmd. Luther T. Reynolds said. The shooting victim was wounded in the leg after a fight at Brandermill Drive and Drumcastle Terrace on April 11. Reynolds said the suspected shooter was allegedly beat up by the 20-year-old after the shooting. Police made contact with the shooting victim and the suspected shooter at the hospital, Reynolds said. Initial reports were that the incident stemmed from a fight at a nearby basketball court that arose from a prior conflict. Update: Germantown Shooting

No charges have been filed, but police are still investigating the circumstances that left one man shot but not seriously injured Wednesday night at Brandermill Drive and Drumcastle Terrace.

Montgomery County Police could be close to identifying suspects involved in the shooting of a 20-year-old man in Germantown on Wednesday night, police spokesman Cpt. Paul Starks said. "This was not a random act," Starks told Patch. Police responded to Brandermill Drive and Drumcastle Terrace at around 8 p.m., where they found the shooting victim — who was treated for non-life threatening injuries — and another teenage male who had apparently been assaulted. Starks said investigators think they know who may have been involved in the shooting but were still working the case. No charges have been filed. Germantown Shooting Under Investigation

One person shot but not seriously injured in shooting at Brandermill Drive and Drumcastle Terrace, Montgomery County Police said.

Montgomery County Police are investigating a shooting Wednesday night at Brandermill Drive and Drumcastle Terrace.  Police responded to reports of a shooting at 8:03 p.m.; a 20-year-old male was shot and another teenage male had been assaulted, Montgomery County Police Spokesman Cpt. Paul Starks said. The shooting victim did not suffer serious injuries and was treated at a hospital, Starks said. Starks said the people involved likely knew each other and that the incident may have stemmed from an altercation at a nearby basketball court, though the circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
