Germantown Lunch Break Burglar Convicted in Washington County Heist

A diesel mechanic in Germantown convicted of stealing more than $30,000 from homes during his lunch breaks has been convicted of an additional heist in Washington County, MD, The Herald-Mail reports. Andrew Tyler Olden, 25, received a suspended 20-year sentence for taking more than $60,000 worth of cash and property from a Keedysville, MD, couple, The Herald Mail reported. In February, Olden received a 60-year sentence for burglarizing upper Montgomery County homes—a total of eight homes between April 20, 2011 and May 27, 2011, Patch has reported. Homeowners Find Pantless Stranger Sleeping In Doorway

Police: Man was found lying on his side with his pants around his ankles.

Poolesville homeowners say they were stirred from their sleep by a stranger lying inside their front doorway with his shoes off and pants around his ankles. At around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, Montgomery County police were dispatched to reports of a burglary in the 20000 block of Haller Avenue, according to records obtained from Montgomery County District Court. The homeowners told police that they were asleep upstairs when they heard a noise from the first floor. One of the homeowners claimed he saw a man lying motionless in the doorway. ARLINGTON, VA — A Gaithersburg man accused of robbing his girlfriend was arrested on burglary charges when he returned to her Arlington apartment after the alleged incident, Arlington County police said. Daryl Villanueva, 25, is being held without bail. Police alleged that at around 2 a.m. Friday Villanueva kicked in his girlfriend's apartment door, assaulted her and stole an unidentified amount of cash from her purse, according to police. Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said makeup and a clutch wallet were also reported missing. The woman, whom investigators have not identified, called police. Report: Montgomery Umbrella Burglar Sentenced to 75 Years

Paul Jerome Holt, 34, was responsible for at least nine burglaries, and took over $80,000 worth of equipment, WUSA 9 reported.

A man responsible for breaking into businesses from Gaithersburg to Silver Spring and taking laptops, iPads and other electronics has been sentenced to 75 years in prison, WUSA 9 reported. Paul Jerome Holt, 34, was responsible for at least nine burglaries, and took over $80,000 worth of equipment, according to the report. Holt was caught on surveillance video during one of the burglaries using an umbrella to conceal his face. "From Urban Nation to Mars Symbioscience to a dentist office, Mr. Holt preyed upon unsuspecting people who thought their personal or business property to be safe," John J. McCarthy, State's Attorney for Montgomery County, said in a press release. Holt also "stole from a church and a funeral home in the same day," …

Crime Summary: Man Robbed at Bus Stop

The following arrest information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department for Sept. 3 to Sept. 11. It does not indicate a conviction.

Montgomery County Police are looking for two suspects tied to an alleged bus stop robbery in Germantown on Monday, Sept. 10. Police said at around 5:15 a.m., the suspects struck a male victim at Shakespeare Road and Observation Drive. The suspects were described as black males, between 20 and 25 years old. One suspect was about 5’7” at 160 pounds and was wearing a baseball cap; the other was described as between 5’9 and 5’10, and between 165 and 180 pounds. In other police news: An attempted burglary was reported at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Damascus Hair Stylists, 26233 Ridge Road in Germantown. Germantown homeowners caught suspected burglars in the act Saturday night.  According to police, the homeowners arrived at their Steeple Court residence at 11:30 p.m. to discover the lights on and two people inside. They called the police while the alleged burglars were still there, police said in their news blog Tuesday.  Police arrested a 15-year-old boy who lives on Steeple Court. The teen, whom police did not identify, was charged as a juvenile with first-degree burglary, theft, and malicious destruction of property, according to police.  Police also arrested Bryan Tyrone Littlejohn, 20, of 13000 block of Bayberry Drive, according to District Court records accessed online.  Littlejohn was charged with first-degree burglary, theft and …

Charges in Attempted Daytime Home Burglary

Rockville police arrested a man from Gaithersburg and a man from Germantown.

Two men are charged in connection with an attempted daytime burglary of a home in the 1500 block of West Kersey Lane on Tuesday.  Joshua R. Evans, 18, of Gaithersburg, and Alexander Patrick Jeffrey, 24, of Germantown, are charged with attempted first-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit first-degree burglary, according to a city news release. Evans also is charged with malicious destruction of property, the release said. Evans is being held in the county jail in Rockville on $25,000 bond, according to online court records. Jeffrey was released Wednesday on $5,000 bond. Both men are scheduled to appear in Montgomery County District Court in Rockville at 8:30 a.m. on June 18. Lunch-break Burglar Sentenced

Andrew Tyler Olden, 24, received a 60-year sentence, with 40 years suspended

A diesel mechanic in Germantown received a 60-year sentence Wednesday for netting $30,000 worth of burgled goods from Montgomery County homes. Andrew Tyler Olden, 24, of Frederick County, Md., was charged with eight counts of first-degree burglary, seven counts of theft between $1,000 and $10,000, and one count of theft between $10,000 and $100,000. Olden said he committed the burglaries — often on his lunch breaks while working at an automobile dealership in Germantown — to sustain a heroin habit. Olden burglarized homes in Boyds, Damascus and Clarksburg, according to records filed in Montgomery County Circuit Court. Judge Nelson W. Rupp Jr. delivered the sentence, suspending all but 20 years.
