"Move-Over" Law In Effect

Here are the details of the Move-Over Law went into effect Oct. 1.

If you hadn't heard, the new "Move-Over" Law, designed to protect emergency vehicles and crews alongside the highway, went into affect in Maryland on Oct.1. The law requires that motorists stay away from the travel lane next to the emergency vehicle while it's emergency lights are on. If drivers are not able to switch lanes, than they are required to reduce their speed while passing a stopped emergency vehicle.  Penalty for violating the newly enacted law includes a $110 fine and one point added to your driving record. If violation contributes to a collision, the penalty increases to $750 and three points added to your driving record.
