Montgomery County has canceled its popular 4th of July fireworks displays and festivities, county officials announced Monday evening. Germantown Glory fireworks at the Maryland SoccerPlex in the South Germantown Recreational Park and The Mid-County Sparkles! Fireworks display at Einstein High School in Kensington had been planned for Wednesday. The events will not be rescheduled, County Recreation Department spokeswoman Judy Stiles said. County officials cited continued disruption from Friday's severe storm. "The site at mid-county is unquestionably unsafe," Stiles told Germantown Patch. If you're looking for a great firework display this Fourth of July and don't want to deal with the crowds in D.C., Montgomery County is hosting the Germantown Glory fireworks display at the South Germantown Recreational Park. Beginning at 6 p.m., Germantown Glory will offer a family-friendly evening of fun, food and fireworks. Children's activities will be available, along with food vendors offering burgers, hot dogs and ice cream. The South Germantown Driving Range will be open until 10 p.m. — another option for attendees waiting for the fireworks. I love both above comments! And so true about the mcpd being everywhere but where they should be. No officers at the dangerous intersections with trfc lights out and the road we live on is a main county road that still has dangerous debris everywhere.
